Funkyjaws Music launches a new edits series here with four absolute dons of the form on one vital 12″.
Lay Far kicks things off with his ‘Never Ever Edit’ which reworks Made In The USA’s classic Never Gonna Let You Go to great effect with horn-led excitement and upbeat disco claps and kicks. Long term edit fans will know that the original track was previously edited by Theo Parrish on Ugly Edits #1.
Admin’s ‘Moon Trippin’ takes a more slow and soulful approach with his revisit to Moon Trek by The Mike Theodore Orchestra.
When it comes to edits few are more essential than Chicago’s Rahaan who kicks off the B-side with ‘Gonna Get Ya’, a leggy funk number infused with cosmic synth rays and warm piano chords. Delfonic closes the EP with the loose percussive jumbles and jazzy vibes of ‘Let’s Dance The Spank’, an extended edit of Mohammed & The Black System which has been edited in the past by Mr Mendel but never made it onto vinyl. A fine start to the series!
